Outlook global address list not updating

If you are not seeing correct contact information in the GAL for someone that has a valid email address (i.e.someone who just received a UAEX Exchange account use the steps below to synchronize your computer's locally cached version of the GAL. The most recent version of the Global Address List will be downloaded.

It can be accessed when using a UAEX Exchange account with Outlook or when logged in to the Outlook Web App.

You may see a status window indicating the download's progress, it will automatically disappear when completed. Re-open Outlook and log in; the Global Address List should now contain the most recent information.

After completing this tutorial you will have configured Microsoft Outlook to always reference the latest version of the global address book directly from the email server rather than referencing a downloaded local copy. After following these steps, you will only be able to access the global address book while Outlook is connected to the server.

It is a single domain running in a single forest, and there are no trusts anywhere.

The domain is "contosoint.com" and the email addresses are all "@" It was set up by one of my predecessors many years ago, and as far as I can tell, all the settings were left at the defaults.
